From the Town Clerk: I've worked elections for several years before I came to Sabattus and there's a little education that I want to get out there as absentee voting opens up. There always seems to be a bit of confusion about voting in the Primary Elections, specifically for "Independent" voters. Many people register to vote as 'Green Independent' thinking it means they're registering as an independent voter. However, 'Green Independent' is a party affiliation.

Truly INDEPENDENT voters are those independent from any party or political affiliation. In Maine, that would be 'Unenrolled' voters. These voters may choose which Primary ballot they cast when voting. Here's a quick guide for the State Primary Election for this June!
